A trip to Rio is incomplete without, your much awaited shopping spree. Any self-respecting woman who prides herself over her fashion sense will not think about returning from Rio without getting one of those exotic colourful print dresses.

Rio can cater to people of all kinds of pockets, if you are on budget then hit the street markets such as the Ipanema Hippie Fair which is open only on Sundays or the craft markets at Avenida Atlântica. The key thing to remember here is you can get the best deal according to your bargaining skills.

Some of the hottest things that you can buy in Rio de Janeiro are the endless variety of bikinis, the cute Havaianas, funky jewellery,  statues, souvenirs, sunglasses, football shirts, etc. Just be sure that the things that you are buying are not only cheap but also of a good quality.

For those who want to splurge can go to the chic shopping malls such as the Rio Sul Shopping Centre, Shopping Leblon, Shopping Cidade Copacabana, São Conrado Fashion Mall, etc. which is home to hundreds of stores which offer the most fashionable clothes and accessories of the season.

And yes, we have not forgotten the antique lovers. In the world of thongs and bikinis, one does not expect to get good antique objects, but you will be pleasantly surprised to know that Rio de Janeiro does have some of the rarest antique and vintage objects. Places such as Lapa have an antique market that has many shops selling antique furniture and other small pieces.
